| Community Enrichment: Photography After School |
|
Dee, who volunteers her time to teach the photography class, has been hard at work since April to secure funding, digital cameras and Adobe editing software for use in her class. She is thrilled to see the children's creativity at work, reporting that the youth have taken some eye-catching photos and are looking forward to exhibiting their work at the end of the school year.
When asked about the idea behind her photography class, Dee shared that her goal “was to get involved in the community, do something with middle-school aged kids, and something I enjoyed at the same time. Teenagers have so many challenges to deal with as they grow up. Photography is a hobby that has given me many years of personal satisfaction and one that kids can learn and grow into as they mature. It can also help with self-esteem and maybe keep a kid or two out of trouble!”
We are so thankful that Dee has brought her creativity to Lifeline’s afterschool programs. Dee would like to remind you to donate your gently used digital cameras to Lifeline! |
