Vision Achievement Mentoring (VAM) Program VAM is a mentoring program which helps high school students who are engaging or are at risk of engaging in high-risk behaviors (such as sexual activity, associating with negative peers, etc.) to strengthen their social and personal skills and to make more positive life choices. The individual strengths and needs of each teen are identified and they are paired with a mentor who encourages and supports their positive development while helping to guide them away from destructive influences. Mentors interact with the teens through tutoring, field trips, and one-on-one time. All VAM youth also participate in family education through the Baby Think It Over and Reducing the Risk curriculums, which focus on the consequences of unprotected sex and the reality of being a teen parent.
