Project LIFE Remote Activity Leader

Purpose
Project LIFE (Living in Freedom of Exploitation) is an advocacy program that works with victims and survivors of human trafficking. Project LIFE offers trauma-informed services for emergency response, case management, and mental health working collaboratively with law enforcement and other victim service agencies. Project LIFE offers trainings on human trafficking to raise community awareness to give the community the tools they need to identify signs and report.

Specific Activities
Plan and lead interactive video activities (via GoToMeeting) for Project LIFE clients as a means to teach new skills and/or provide respite during shelter-in-place requirements. Primary activity ideas include but are not limited to: 
  • Cooking basics (e.g. spaghetti, rice, beans, tacos, French toast, eggs, how to pick out fresh produce, how to meal prep, how to make a grocery list, how to budget for groceries, etc.)
  • A DIY project (e.g. make your own COVID face mask, how to crochet, how to sew a hem, essential oil DIYs, etc)
  • A household chore (e.g. how to clean a bathroom, how to use a dishwasher, how to do laundry, how to organize spaces in the home, etc.)
  • A self-care topic (e.g. how to care for houseplants, education on essential oils, how to make your apartment more cozy, sleep hygiene, creating a daily schedule during COVID, how to give self-massages, yoga or stretching, etc.)
  • A craft or art project for adults and/kids (e.g. How to paint with watercolor, creating a craft with a personal mantra or scripture sign, DIY succulent plants, guided painting activity, quarantine specific vision board, etc.)
  • All activities must be doable with easy to acquire items and supplies 
Qualifications/Requirements
  • We are specifically looking for a Spanish speaking volunteer
  • Comfortable using teleconference technology (i.e. GoToMeeting, Zoom, etc.) 
  • Comfortable presenting in front of people (via video conference)
  • Sincere interest in sharing special skills, knowledge, or activities 
  • Must be able to fill and sign PDF document paperwork remotely or print, sign and scan back paperwork

Work Schedule
  • Weekly commitment required
  • Minimum commitment of 3 months required
  • Prep time for activity 
  • 30mins-1 hour designated per activity/session
  • Check-in time with Project LIFE staff, including Trauma Informed Care & Human Trafficking 101 Training.
