Part Time Youth Partner & Outreach Specialist -San Marcos

This position works in Lifeline’s counseling program for homeless and displaced youth. To qualify you must have personal experience living in a non-permanent housing environment during a period of time when you were under 21 years of age. This could include being without a home, or living in a shelter, or in a temporary housing situation if you were not living with a parent/guardian. If you received counseling services during this time this is preferred, but not required. Please include a description of your experience in your resume or cover letter. The Youth Partner/Outreach Specialist uses this lived experience to help homeless and displaced youth in our program. Youth Partners help youth to self-advocate and to better understand their mental health needs and how counseling services can help. The position is community-based. Most services will take place at community locations such as client’s school, current living environment, or other community locations where homeless and displaced youth spend time.

Specific Activities
  • Helps identify and connect with youth experiencing homelessness and displacement
  • Helps youth understand how mental health services work, and works with youth to identify needs and overcome obstacles preventing effective participation in services.
  • Works with clinicians to ensure a youth-centered treatment plan.
  • Helps youth feel supported throughout the therapy process by working with clinicians to ensure effective communication.
  • Provides case management services via school, home visits and community settings, during the day and evening. Connects youth and families to appropriate resource linkages in the community.
  • Helps youth identify and access informal support people and involve them in the treatment plan.
  • Completes progress notes in CCBH (Anasazi) within defined timelines, and participates in program’s Quality Assurance process.
  • Performs outreach activities within the community to connect youth to the program.
  • Completes other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications/Requirements

Must have personal experience living in a non-permanent housing environment during a period of time when you were under 21 years of age. Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred but not required. Experience of community-based social service or case management experience is a plus. CCBH (Anasazi) trained preferred but not required. Must possess excellent oral and written skills; work well autonomously and with multiple people/disciplines. Must possess the ability to make sound decisions independently. Must be computer literate. Must pass required background checks. Must have reliable transportation and relevant auto insurance, plus a clean driving record.

Pay Range Salary will commensurate with experience and education. Differential pay offered for bilingual skills.
